Purpose:
Determine a band's leader by analyzing a publicity photo.
Disclaimer:
A band's inclusion on this blog reflects neither an endorsement nor a criticism of its music. This post is merely intended as a spotlight on the inner political workings of a collection of individuals who are in the midst of a cooperative, creative endeavor.
The Process:
You, dear reader, please answer the question, "Who's in charge here?"
After sufficient discussion has taken place, a verdict can then be passed based on a majority vote.

Why is everyone squinting so? Until I blew up the photo, I thought the 2nd guy from the right actually got caught with his eyes closed!
Okay--I'm going with the guy on the right; he looks the oldest. The youngsters are probably just disposable guys and gals who can play an accordion or sing backup or whatever. But Old Tony's got a big following among the local folk who dig their polka music; his legend lives on, no matter who's backing him up onstage.
I'm going to agree with Dguzman - Tony is the mature guy on the right. That blonde woman has scary teeth though, and probably bosses him around when he picks a song that she doesn't like...
I agree with dguzman and pj.
It has to be the guy placed furthest from the slightly zaftig girl who is tasked with singing the lyrics to "I don't want her you can have her she's too fat for me".
Usetabe, she'd kick him in the nuts every time. (Hence the protective posery)
Come on now, let's think about this. The cute blonde girl is obviously in charge, no matter which of the rejects in purple Tony is. Girl's got Tony by the balls.
I'm on a roll, but I have a bad feeling about this. I'll say the second dude from the right because he's got that "I'm the fucking leader, I must stand tall thing" going on, but it could also be overcompensation for a lack of polka wizardry. Plus, he looks like a Tony, not a Gunter, François or Helmut.
This is a difficult one splotch.
I think the hefty lady is the leader, because, seriously, who would fuck with her?
Can't you just see her face turning from Jolly to rage-infested at one flat note?
Oh, she's also the best singer in the band.
And when she yells at people, she does that head thing that women who know they're in charge do.
You know... "I KNOW you weren't talking to ME!"
Yeah, like that.
Good Lord.
Ok, the guy on the right. As others have mentioned, he looks to be the oldest, and if there's one thing old folks know (other than Bingo and early bird specials), it's how to fucking polka.
Those are some good looking people.
So this blog is all about the eye candy..

beckeye, dammit. You got me laughin'.
winter, you have caught me! Now look at what you've done -- I'm canceling next week's post of Men At Work and the dreamy Colin Hay.
Thanks for stopping by, though.
OK, I thought it was cliche for punk bands to get photographed in front of a brick wall, but a polka band? I'm going with the guy 2nd from the right. Looks like he is using the most hair product, a good tip-off that he's someone who can lay down a hot polka track.
Can I also mention how much these guys look like the Kraftwerk dudes?
I'm going with the crowd here and saying seniority rules, so guy on the right. But the guy next to him will be staging a coup sometime when Tony is least expecting it.
it's the old guy and the band is made up of his sons, daughters, nephews and nieces. because what kids would learn to play polka if their family didn't make them?
I really enjoy listening to "Tony's Polka Band" they did a great job both times at the 7 Springs!
Also the Young Lady that plays Clairnet/Guitar is very Pretty & she really can sing! You can tell that when she is singing, that she really enjoys Singing Polkas & Entertaining the People!
