Dogstar

Purpose:
Determine a band's leader by analyzing a publicity photo.

Disclaimer:
A band's inclusion on this blog reflects neither an endorsement nor a criticism of its music. This post is merely intended as a spotlight on the inner political workings of a collection of individuals who are in the midst of a cooperative, creative endeavor.

The Process:
You, dear reader, please answer the question, "Who's in charge here?"

After sufficient discussion has taken place, a verdict can then be passed based on a majority vote.

Band: Dogstar
Genre: Rock?
Website: http://www.myspace.com/dogstartheband

Voting ends on: Monday, June 28th, 9:00am CST (GMT-5)

THE VERDICT (Updated!)

Voting has ended.

Here is the tally:
Middle: 3 votes
Right: 3 votes
Left: 1 vote

Oy! Another tie. Well, we must once again call on the VP of the United States to make a ruling. (please don't be a form letter! please don't be form letter!)

"This is an easy one. I don't even have to get into the politics of leather jackets versus t-shirts. Has NO ONE commented on the necklace? COME ON, people. The photographer was obviously told by someone, 'Hey, make sure you get the entire necklace in the picture. It's IMPORTANT.' And who is going to think the necklace is important, other than the necklace-wearer? The necklace-wearer is in control of the composition of this band photo, and thus the necklace-wearer is in charge."

Whoa!
Technically, I think the guy in the middle is in charge, however, I don't think it really matters because whatever Keanu says is gonna go.

What appears, on the right, to be a young Keanu Reeves is in charge because all the girls launch at him whenever he appears.

Ted.

Keanu would be the leader, except he's the bass player. And unless you're Paul McCartney*, Geddy Lee or Kip Winger**, bass players can't be leaders***.

My vote is for Thomas Jane in the middle****. I hope Keanu doesn't see this, considering his depression as of late.

*2 weeks in a row with the McCartney reference? My apologies.

**He only is considered the leader because, well, the band was named "Winger." A win by default. My apologies to Winger fan, BeckEye.

***I can make this statement because I'm a former (recovering?) bass player and nobody ever listened to me. Please, no angry letters, bass players. just tellin' it like it is.

****Not actually Thomas Jane.

this is like those "ike & tina" or "ramones" photos, where it's hard to judge the image separate from what we know about the band. even though keanu is in charge in real life, my vote here goes to front-n-center.

The only place Keanu is in charge is on a bus that has to stay above 50 mph on an LA freeway. And even then, Joe Morton (not pictured) is in charge. He had the map and got Keanu to the airport.

I'll have to go with the guy on the left, who feels comfortable enough in himself to stand away from Keanu.

I really can't decide. I guess I'll go with Keanu.
